You saw the storm in mine
you saw the sun peeking
from behind the rags of clouds
the secret sunlight
burnishing the grey
coaxing out a hue of blue
come the end you just saw rain
forgot the flowers it fed
the lightning fracking through the sea

in yours I saw some leaves
on the bed of your river
rusting with the guts
from grandfather clocks
I forgot where they fell from
the sky they once touched
the storm that rattled them
the sunlight that dried them
the thin wrists they snapped from
