Silent Marriage

Silent marriage

Behind the wall
the restless sea
with it’s desire
to touch our touching

sunlight surfacing
soft pins and needles
each others breath
in our blood

the wind raises the sea
brief and bright above us
the ghosts of sails
the static of rain

panes of darkness
smashed to fine dust
sifting white
over our quiet

our tiny stillness
a tethered flame
beneath the shifting slates
of the storm
