Raven

Raven

Black beaten into you
by the blacksmith
everything taste of anvil
hacking up snake skins

the bark of the sun
echoes through the grass
pure chimney
solder trickling into sky

how the stars peek
over the rim of the well
come to see the caged
curled round quivering embers

the wind worries
lifts and examines
the stained bandages
of your song

the lining
torn from your throat
