no. 3 – a poem for each planet in our solar system

Earth

1.

Plumes of blue
blown into your breathing glass

sown with sunlight
that took root in your rock

fracturing the dark
gracing it with green

haunted by a single ghost
memory turns the sea silver at night

2.

Everything just right
size
distance
time
perfectly placed

where the sun
can turn itself
inside out
scattering scales
and feathers

where sunlight
can become skin
and touch the
falling of leaves

where ash dissolves
like snow
falling into the hands
it gave a home to
